During Saturday’s WWE Road to WrestleMania live event in Youngstown, Ohio, Drew McIntyre honored Rey Mysterio, who was announced as the headliner of the 2023 WWE Hall of Fame Class on Friday’s SmackDown.
McIntyre, Mysterio, and Sheamus teamed up to defeat Solo Sikoa and the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions, The Usos of The Bloodline, with help from Sami Zayn. Following their victory, Drew McIntyre grabbed the microphone and showered Rey Mysterio with accolades, insisting that the term “Legend” doesn’t do him justice. McIntyre went on to express that Mysterio seems to be getting younger every year, and stated that he was speaking not only as a friend, but as a brother who feels fortunate to still have him in his life.
McIntyre concluded his tribute by emphasizing that there is nobody more deserving of being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame than Mysterio, and suggested that he deserves to have his own wing within the esteemed institution. McIntyre then took to Twitter and re-tweeted the clip.
