Sami Zayn Was Visibly Nervous Before SmackDown Promo, WWE Producer Called It “Special”

Sami Zayn had a special segment in Montreal on the February 17th episode of Smackdown ahead of Elimination Chamber. He also knew how important and emotional of a moment he was about to go through.

Sami Zayn has been super busy this weekend in Montreal. He is a hometown hero, and gearing up for the biggest match of his entire career at the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view. He also had an incredible moment on SmackDown, where his home city praised him for minutes on end. It turns out that he was a bit nervous before

Fightful Select have now reported that Sami Zayn was visibly nervous backstage before his SmackDown promo. That being said, they did not elaborate on exactly what that meant.

Those backstage claim that Zayn looked “visibly anxious and nervous” ahead of the promo, but didn’t elaborate on what that meant.

We’re told that some that were in the know were expecting somewhat of a different promo to occur, but that Zayn accounted for the crowd reaction and let the segment breathe. There was some panic on the production end, having to edit and black out the “F*ck You Roman” chants. There was also one source that claimed that those in the Gorilla position were confused and expecting a different kind of promo, but we’ve not had that subsequently confirmed by additional sources. Those that we heard from were very happy with how things ended up, with one longtime producer calling it “special.”

That was certainly a moment that Sami Zayn will never forget, and the company has to be happy about that dramatic moment of live television.
