Vince McMahon had a conversation with Bryan Danielson about what AEW did better than WWE.
While speaking during a feature story on the Bloomberg site, Bryan Danielson revealed that in 2020, Vince McMahon contacted him and asked if he saw anything AEW is doing better than WWE. Mr. McMahon might have been more interested in the “blood and guts” filled competition than he let on.
“Do you see anything that AEW’s doing better than us?” Danielson, at home on paternity leave, spent the next two weeks watching every morsel of AEW programming and came to a conclusion: AEW committed more time to and placed more value on the craft of fighting in the ring. WWE’s shows were often marked by long segments of characters on the microphone and short matches. “It feels like you’re watching a wrestling show without any wrestling,”

Bryan Danielson will always have a great relationship with WWE and the door is always open for a return to the company whenever possible. That being said, Danielson is likely to stay with AEW for many years to come and that’s all that matters to him.
