NXT’s Deal With USA Ends Later This Year

During WWE’s 4th quarter 2022 financial call, WWE Chief Financial Officer Frank Riddick noted something very interesting that could be a hindrance for the company achieving some goals. He said that NXT’s television contract with USA Network expires in September.

It was not noted that USA Network and WWE are in talks to carry on the contract to air NXT on the channel, or which potential buyers are on the table. We can only imagine that those negotiations are ongoing.

WWE CEO Nick Khan later noted that USA Network is “thrilled” with NXT, and the growing ratings.

WWE also has a few options in terms of where they can air NXT. Streaming platforms like Hulu and Peacock could be legit competitors for the USA Network deal. The company’s developmental brand has a nice following, but it draws nowhere near the same numbers that the main roster generates.

WWE started NXT on the USA Network after AEW announced that Dynamite would take over Wednesday nights. The Wednesday Night War followed, one which many say AEW won. NXT moved to Tuesday nights on the USA Network after that, but only time will tell where the show will be this time next year.
