Rhodes made his return from injury during the 2023 Men’s Royal Rumble match. He won the match and moved one step closer to fulfilling his dream of main-eventing WrestleMania.
Speaking to WWE’s The Bump, The American Nightmare got emotional as he mentioned that WrestleMania will finally be headlined by a Rhodes.
“I’m pointing at the sign because the biggest WrestleMania of all time… the biggest wrestling event of all time, the biggest sports entertainment event of all time is going to be headlined by a Rhodes (breaks down). That’s just, sorry, I fought for so long, and then my dad also fought for so long. We stirred up so much trouble competing against WWE. What kind of world are we living in where we’re like you’re welcomed back in the way you’re welcomed back. And then to be able to finish someone else’s story but also your story… I better not screw this up.”

Cody Rhodes is set to take on Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at WrestleMania 39. The two-day wrestling extravaganza will emanate from the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.
