Batista Is Relieved To Be Finished Up With Marvel

Batista is leaving the MCU, with “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” serving as his final appearance as Drax the Destroyer.

It’s a character that’s lasted nearly ten years and seven distinct MCU films, but it’s one Batista is keen to get out of. Batista recently told GQ magazine that he doesn’t want Drax to be his acting legacy.

I’m so grateful for Drax. I love him. But there’s a relief [that it’s over]. It wasn’t all pleasant. It was hard playing that role. The makeup process was beating me down. And I just don’t know if I want Drax to be my legacy — it’s a silly performance, and I want to do more dramatic stuff.

Batista believes his other 2023 film projects are a step on the right path when it comes to shaping his post-Marvel acting career. Batista wishes to accomplish far more than what the MCU has to offer.
