AEW Secretly Signed Action Andretti Months Ago

Action Andretti began his wrestling training at the MCW Pro Wrestling Training Center and entered the professional level in 2019. Moreover, he is also the current MCW Heavyweight Champion in his first title reign. Andretti has also previously wrestled on AEW Dark and Dark Elevation tapings as well.

The high-flying superstar’s amazing debut on AEW television programming has been well-appreciated by fans, while Chris Jericho has also been credited for putting over the young star. Moreover, according to a report by Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Chris Jericho was the driving force behind planning Action Andretti’s huge debut and Tony Khan secretly signed him way before his official debut.

“So this is the story of the Chris Jericho vs. Action Andretti match. Andretti (Tyler Andretti, 24) was brought in a few times by AEW to do enhancement work on the streaming shows. While watching a match taped for the 10/11 Dark, which took place on the 10/7 Rampage/Battle of the Belts taping in Washington, DC, Jericho saw Andretti lose a match to QT Marshall. He that night went to Tony Khan and laid out the angle where he wanted to lose to him and try and make him a star on Dynamite. Khan then secretly signed Andretti at that time to a contract.

Jericho said he wanted Andretti from that point to be pulled from everything, no matches at all in AEW, nothing streaming. He had worked a few streaming enhancement matches in January and another one two days earlier in Washington, DC. They both agreed to have it after Jericho lost the ROH title because it would make no sense as a champion who was going to headline a PPV to lose a match to a guy who isn’t going to then get a title match. This explains Jericho saying that after the Final Battle match he was moving on from the feud with the Blackpool Combat Club and couldn’t wait for a new direction. So it was set for Winter is Coming on 12/14 in Garland, TX.

They lucked out because the crowd was ridiculously hot all night and actually were the hottest during this match because of how they worked it. Jericho said in an interview that he was wrestling a jobber, and of course, nobody knew the guy.”

We will have to wait and see what comes next for Action Andretti but for now he will be celebrating the biggest victory of his professional wrestling career.
