The SmackDown World Cup tournament starting on tonight’s SmackDown. A first-round match between Nakamura and Escobar is booked for the episode. The winner will receive an Intercontinental Championship match vs GUNTHER. Now, we have an idea about who else we should expect.
PW Insider reports that the World Cup tournament is planned to feature Braun Strowman, Shinsuke Nakamura, Sami Zayn, Santos Escobar, Rey Mysterio, Jinder Mahal, Butch, and Ricochet.
WWE needs to make Gunther’s next challenger matter, and this is certainly a big step in a positive direction.
Time will tell who will go all the way in this tournament.
