Billy Gunn Discusses Missing DX’s 25th Anniversary And His Connection With The Acclaimed

Daddy Ass discusses missing his friend’s big party.

Just under two weeks ago, DX celebrated their 25 year anniversary on Monday Night RAW. However, Billy Gunn was missing from the segment. We have learned in recent days that there were attempts between AEW and WWE to make an appearance happen, but those plans fell through.

Speaking with Sports Illustrated about missing the segment, Billy Gunn says that he would have loved to have been a part of it, also acknowledging the problem of him working for another company.

“Of course, I would have liked to have been there, but I understand that I work for another company,” Gunn says. “It was a collective decision. I’m not putting it on anyone. I’m not sour about it. We’re two separate companies, and it just didn’t work out.”

Gunn would continue, discussing his relationship with The Acclaimed. The relationship came about while The Acclaimed were aligned with The Gunn Club and the act has continued to gain support throughout the wresting world.

“We jell so well together,” Gunn says. “We’re not trying to fight each other. DX was so good because everybody knew their spot and none of us were trying to jockey for position. It’s the same here. We fit together in The Acclaimed, and we’re focused on doing the best thing collectively for the group. The goal is to make this the best this can be, and I’m here to help them be the best they can be. I want them to have the same success I had.”

The Acclaimed are set to defend their AEW World Tag Team Championships on tonight’s edition of AEW Rampage as they also look to gain the trademark for scissoring from Mark Sterling.
