Former IMPACT Wrestling Star W. Morrissey Returns To AEW

W. Morrissey debuted with IMPACT Wrestling in April 2021. The former Big Cass tore through their roster for over a year, finishing up his run with them back in May of this year.

During his time in IMPACT, Morrissey had numerous title challenges, including the Main Event of Hard to Kill PPV back in January of this year, with Moose defending against both W. Morrissey and Matt Cardona in a Triple Threat Match for the IMPACT World Title. Morrissey has been heavily featured by the promotion during his time with the company, including challenging for the IMPACT World Title on multiple occasions.

Unfortunately, Morrissey did not have any kind of title run during his tenure with IMPACT.

He looked great, and when appearing on an April 2022 episode of The Sessions with Renee Paquette, Morrissey expressed his content with his current workplace and stated that he feels like he’s doing the best work of his career.

Yeah, IMPACT has been great. The crew there has been awesome. The writing team is fucking awesome. I really like it there. Now that I’m sober and have a good head on my shoulders, I feel like I’m doing the best work of my career. I feel like I’m getting better and better each time I’m out there. I feel like I’m reaching for that potential I talked about. I feel myself getting more confident. I feel myself getting better. Even when I watch my stuff back, I am getting better. It’s been a really good experience at IMPACT, it’s really awesome there. Everybody’s cool. I think it was the perfect place to come back into [TV wrestling]. It’s given me an opportunity to grow and pitch ideas for myself and try to work with them to [bring out the best in me].”

While still working with IMPACT, Morrissey made an appearance on the May 4 episode of AEW Dynamite as a mystery opponent for Wardlow during his feud with MJF.

On June 2nd of this year, Mike Johnson at PWInsider reported that W. Morrissey has departed from IMPACT Wrestling. Morrissey teamed with PCO on the June 2 episode of IMPACT Wrestling to take on Moose & Steve Maclin. This bout was reportedly W. Morrissey’s final appearance for the company at this time. The match was taped on May 13.

After last appearing for IMPACT Wrestling on their June 2nd episode, W. Morrissey hasn’t been seen or heard from, but speculation was that he was possibly returning to WWE. He Morrissey returned to the wrestling world by showing up at AEW tonight to start out the show.
