Dustin Poirier Confirms He’ll Fight at UFC 281

Despite UFC 281 tickets being made public today, the Diamond has yet to be booked plans to fight this November.

Dustin Poirier replied to a tweet that was pointing out that despite UFC 281 tickets being made public, his fight vs. Michael Chandler which at first was reported by Ariel Helwani on the MMA hour on August 3rd.

A fan asked Chandler that if they were successful against Poirier, would they call out the winner of Charles Oliveira vs. Islam Makhachev after UFC 280, Chandler responded saying “Yes I will.”

The UFC could be planning on announcing it from now ’til during UFC Paris which is set to go down on September 3rd, many fans expect it to happen and it would determine who could be next in line for the gold at 155lbs.

Chandler is coming off a win vs. Tony Ferguson in the 2nd round, it was a brutal kick that is a contender for knockout of the year. Chandler made a call out to the lightweight division, a top name he wanted next was former 2-divison champion Conor McGregor.

Poirier’s last fight ended in a 2nd-round submission to Charles Oliveira for the UFC Lightweight championship at UFC 269, his second official attempt at gold after his first ended in a loss to determine the undisputed Lightweight champion at UFC 242.
