Drew McIntyre is happy to see a fellow former NXT Champion get his flowers.
On Monday’s edition of RAW, Johnny Gargano made his shocking return to WWE. While Bodyslam.net had exclusively reported Gargano was more likely to return to WWE after Triple H took the reins of creative control, there was no indication that we would see Gargano on Monday’s RAW until his music hit at the show.
During an appearance on WWE’s The Bump, McIntyre was asked about Gargano’s return. He responded by recalling his history with “Johnny Wrestling”, dating back to their days as the EVOLVE Tag Team Champions.
“Very exciting to see Johnny back. I tweeted a picture of himself and myself as the EVOLVE Tag Team Champions. Johnny’s such an incredible talent. One of my biggest matches and when I really showed the world what I was capable of in-ring outside of WWE during my independent run was at Dragon Gate USA, [it was] an EVOLVE Championship match with Johnny. He made me raise my game. I did win that match, and it really showed what I could do in the ring. We became the first-ever EVOLVE Tag Team Champions, spent time in NXT together. He achieved all this NXT success, but I didn’t imagine he would get the opportunity, a real opportunity, on Raw or SmackDown. He’s getting it right now. He’s earned it, he deserves it,”

Gargano appears to be starting off his main roster WWE run with a storyline with former stablemate Theory, who Gargano laid out on Monday’s RAW.
