Alberto Del Rio Files Amended Lawsuit Against Combate Global

Alberto Del Rio has filed a changed lawsuit against Combate Global, with the two parties likely going to trial in 2023.

Per PWInsider, Del Rio filed an amended lawsuit with the The United States District Court for the Southern District of New York on August 9. The court previously ruled that the lawsuit could be unable to move forward on July 26.

In the amended lawsuit, much like its predecessor, Patron alleged that Combate breached his contract for his scheduled fight against Tito Ortiz on December 9, 2019. The fight aired on pay-per-view, but the promotion allegedly failed to pay Patron the $250,000 he was owed. Additionally, Patron claims that that Combate did not give him is social media accounts back after he gave the promotion access to them for promotional purposes.

As a result, Patron is asking for $250,000 in compensatory damages, along with a minimum of $26,250.00 for the period for the period dating back to December 31, 2019 “calculated as follows through April 15, 2021, and as determined by the Court for the days following April 15, 2021 up to the date judgment is rendered: 7% interest of $26,250”, for Patron’s personal costs and the “reasonable” fees for his attorney. Patron is asking for Combate to pay these damages and return his social media access. Additionally, Patron is asking for more damages that would be determined at the trial to compensate for the promotion’s “unlawful conversion of Plaintiffs’ social media accounts”, along with any other relief the court may determine is “just and proper.”

Time will tell if Del Rio will get what he wants from the mixed martial arts promotion.
