FTR On Defending Their IWGP Tag Team Championships In Japan

FTR defeated Roppongi Vice and The United Empire to become the new IWGP Tag Team Champions, as well as retain the ROH Tag Team Championships.

FTR joined the AEW Forbidden Door Post-Show Media Scrum to talk about winning the IWGP titles and even clarified about taking the titles back over to NJPW in Japan for defenses. Their comments are below.

No, no we’re not going to defend them, we’re gonna lose our smile [laughs].[Cash]: Yeah, the whole dream for us was to come to do AEW, to do New Japan, to be AEW Champions, to be IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions and the pandemic kinda, you know, slowed that down for awhile, and now things are opening back up, we’re getting back out here, travels becoming way more easy and accessible for everybody and yeah, we’ll go kick some ass in New Japan. [Dax]: I think ultimately, you know, the reason we came here is because we f-king love wrestling, I mean, I’ve said it a million times before but, what I perceive to be god and my wife and daughter and professional wrestling, that’s all I’ve got in my life and so, for me to be able to write down beside my best friend, for me to be able to write our names beside the greatest tag teams of all time in American history like the Arn’s & Tully’s and the Midnight Express and the Hart Foundation and The Bulldogs, now we get to go to Japan and write our names beside the guys like Bigelow & Vader and Hase & Mutoh and The Steiner Brothers, and you know, and to be able to do that around the globe, that’s pretty cool and that’s what we want to do in life and in wrestling, too.
