Happy Corbin Recalls Throwing Rey Mysterio Off A Roof: “I Think Someone Called The Cops!”

Money In The Bank 2020’s MITB ladder matches seemed almost like a fever dream. Taking place at WWE’s official headquarters, the match occurred during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. As such, the match was changed to a cinematic style match.

One spot that occurred in the match was related to Happy Corbin, who was still King Corbin at that point. At one stage of the match, Corbin threw Rey Mysterio off the roof, or at least that’s how the camera shot the spot.

Speaking on KLBJFM, Corbin reflected on the spot.

“He’s one of the iconic in our industry. He’s been around for a long time and done a lot of things,” Corbin said of Mysterio. “He created a standard for smaller guys. Everybody that comes into the business that is undersized, ‘I want to be the next Rey Mysterio.’ There will never be another Rey Mysterio. I got it in my head, ‘If he’s one of the greatest ever, let’s see if he can fly.’ We happened to be on top of a ten-story building and I sent him over into the darkness. I have that mask on my wall at my house right now. That was one of the craziest Money in the Bank matches because the ring is on top of headquarters, it’s cold, it’s dark, the wind was blowing. When Asuka punched me in the head on top of the ladder, I fell off because of the wind. It was really gusty. I think someone legit called the police that I murdered somebody.”

Corbin at present seems to be beginning a program with Pat McAfee following the conclusion of Corbin’s match with Moss on Friday.

What did you make of the spot back in 2020? Did you think it was too far or a funny spot given the circumstances? Let us know in the comment section and on our social media pages.
