Elevating Stephanie McMahon To CEO Called “Optics Play” Signifying Vince McMahon Has No Intention Of Stepping Down

It looks like Vince McMahon doesn’t plan on stepping down from the WWE anytime soon.

At present, Vince McMahon is being investigated regarding a a quid pro quo with a former WWE paralegal McMahon had a relationship with. Said paralegal was promoted overnight and paid a sum of three million dollars to remain quiet about the affair. It was announced early on Friday morning that McMahon would be stepping down from his CEO and Chairperson roles amid the investigation, with his daughter Stephanie taking over said roles. Vince will remain a part of the WWE creative process.

Now, Alex Sherman of CNBC reported that Vince has made an “optics play” by appointing Stephanie:

I’m also told that elevating Stephanie to CEO, after she just left to focus on family, is an optics play to signal Vince McMahon has no intention of stepping down.

Time will tell if this will turn out to be the plan of action but if the WWE board concludes there has been serious misconduct, Vince may not have much of a say in the matter.
