Brock Lesnar Returns To Smackdown, Huge Match Set For SummerSlam

Roman Reigns successfully defended his WWE Undisputed Championship against Riddle in a hard fought battle.

Roman Reigns then cut a promo about how there’s no one left for him and now it’s time to leave. Suddenly, before fully getting out of the ring, Brock Lesnar’s music hit and the Beast Incarnate made his way down to the ring. He faked a handshake before F-5’ing Roman, followed by F5’ing the Usos.

Clearly, Brock is back for his championship. And that’s exactly what was reported. Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful select was first on the news, reporting that Brock Lesnar’s return was put in place once it was clear that Randy Orton was going to be out. It was reportedly supposed to be Randy Orton facing Roman Reigns, but with the obvious injury, plans changed. Fightful reported that word started to emerge this afternoon shortly before 5 PM EST backstage that Lesnar could be returning. Still, he was not featured on internal rundowns that were handed out just before the show.

Quickly after Fightful selects story dropped, WWE themselves dropped a tweet confirming the match. Not only that, but it will be a Last Man Standing Match.

A very interesting match-up now with the addition of the Last Man Standing stipulation. Three WrestleMania’s and two SummerSlam’s, Brock and Roman run it back one more time.

H/T to Sean Ross Sapp & Fightful Select.
