William Regal Believes It’s Foolish To Not Compare NXT To AEW

Well, there goes the neighbourhood.

William Regal has remained respectful and thankful regarding the two shows. He is currently signed to AEW but he was signed to NXT prior to that and was the GM of the brand. Since leaving, he has had plenty of opportunities to be bitter and lash out at the promotion.

While speaking on the “Gentleman Villain Podcast,” William Regal talked about the Wednesday Night Wars. Regal stated that it is foolish to not compare with the original black and gold version of NXT.

“You’d be foolish to say that it isn’t very similar,” Regal said. “Yes, very much so… if I say anything now, there’s going to be people that go, ‘Well, that was a PWG crowd, or that was Ring of Honor’s crowd.’ No, here’s another one of my views: the people who think, ‘Oh, all they did was take people from Ring of Honor or PWG,’ well, there was a platform for them and a bigger platform to make a better living.”

The gold and black NXT did well for a long time under the tutelage of both William Regal and Triple H. However, that momentum seems to have dropped completely since the debut of NXT 2.0. Regal will continue to take on the world of professional wrestling along with The Blackpool Combat Club.
