Tony Khan Doesn’t Want To Train Wrestlers From Scratch

Tony Khan is a much different owner than Vince McMahon.

TK has a big social media presence, promotes his events personally and routinely takes fan suggestions on board regarding the growth of AEW as a professional wrestling company. Khan has drawn the ire of fans for things he’s said in the past and may be about to draw some more.

Tony joined Swerve Strickland on the Swerve City Podcast and spoke about the idea of training professional wrestlers from scratch. In WWE, there is a prominent attempt to bring in outside performers and train them to wrestle the WWE style. Khan explained:

“We typically don’t take people in who don’t have a lot of prior wrestling experience. We don’t train wrestlers from scratch here. It’s a different business model. There are a lot of great people, but for us, we kind of pick our spots when it comes to that thing, because we’re not as much about centralized training all week long.”

As Khan points out, AEW is a differently ran company compared to WWE. He has routinely signed top talent with a wealth of experience. However – the stars who have come in green like Wardlow and Jade Cargill, who are now stars in their own right.
