WWE has confirmed that the 2022 Warrior Award recipient is late-WWE Superstar Shad Gaspard. Gaspard, who had two stints in the company as a member of Cryme Tyme passed away in 2020 following a riptide at Venice Beach.
The tide pulled Gaspard and his son in and Gaspard told the lifeguards to save his son first. Gaspard didn’t make it. The Warrior Award, named after WWE Hall of Famer The Ultimate Warrior, was introduced in 2015. Its recipients are those who “exhibit unwavering strength and perseverance.”
Shad’s wife, Silena, will be accepting the honor on his behalf alongside their ten-year-old son. You can watch the ceremony live on Peacock on April 1st, immediately following Friday Night SmackDown.
