WrestleMania Sign Accidentally Catches Fire Twice During Royal Rumble

World Wrestling Entertainment is never one to shy away from elaborate set designs and production esthetics at its Premium Live Events and last night in St. Louis for the 2022 Royal Rumble was no different. However, a brief scare emerged last night twice with the traditional WrestleMania sign.

Typically, the WrestleMania sign hanging up high in the rafters of the arenas is a staple. It helps build suspense on the Road to WrestleMania and has become something for winners of the Men’s and Women’s Rumble matches to point at to drive home the victory, while making a memorable moment for the WWE Universe. Unfortunately, last night that did not go according to plans for WWE.

Ronda Rousey made her return to the WWE, winning the 30-Woman Royal Rumble match in the process. WWE set off pyro as she pointed to the sign during her victory celebration. According to fans in attendance in St. Louis, an entire section of the audience had to be evacuated and relocated as the pyro melted part of the WrestleMania sign. Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful also pointed it out on Twitter.

This wasn’t the only time the sign caught fire during the night, however. Immediately following Brock Lesnar’s victory in the Men’s Royal Rumble match, as the pyro went off, the sign once again caught fire.

As of now, there have been no reported injuries in the accident. But, Bodyslam will keep you updated if that changes.
