WWE Releases Franky Monet and Scarlett Bordeaux

It was reported by Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful earlier tonight that “several” wrestlers have been informed of their release from WWE. Among those, Sapp confirmed that NXT stars Franky Monet and Scarlett Bordeaux are among them.

Both still getting their feet wet, Monet debuted on NXT television in April. Monet, who wrestled on the Independents as Taya Valkyrie, made waves as Impact Knockouts Champion and 3x AAA Reina de Reinas Champion. Monet has been especially hyped on WWE television in recent months, including a championship program with then-NXT Women’s Champion Raquel Gonzalez. Monet confirmed seemingly confirmed her release via Twitter.

Another superstar who confirmed her release over a tweet is Scarlett Bordeaux, who competed in NXT just under the name “Scarlett.” Also known for her time in AAA and Impact Wrestling, Bordeaux was brought to WWE with her husband, Raw’s Karrion Kross. The duo took NXT by storm and it culminated in Karrion Kross becoming a 2x NXT Champion. However, when Kross was sent to the main roster, Scarlett was nowhere to be found in his act. This has drawn scrutiny from many as they criticized WWE for trying to fix something that wasn’t broken. It was noted by Scarlett that much like previous NXT releases, she has a 30-day no compete as opposed to the more traditional 90-day.
