Jordan Devlin Set To Defend Cruiserweight Title Tonight On NXT UK

Jordan Devlin is set to defend his cruiserweight title against Trent Seven later tonight on NXT UK, the match up was announced and set yesterday on WWE’s the Bump, where Trent Seven did a live weigh in to prove he had dropped enough weight to compete for the title.

Despite this match up being set earlier in the day yesterday, Devlin still appeared on WWE NXT last night to confront NXT Cruiserweight Champion Santos Escobar, Devlin referred to Santos as fake champion having never actually defeating him for the title. After some back and forth between the two stars, Santos told Devlin to take care of business back in the UK first, referring to his match with Trent Seven, then the two could settle who the real champion is on one of the two nights at Wrestlemaina. Devlin would then headbutt Santos, flooring the leader of Legardo Del Fantasma and as Devlin left the ramp with his championship in hand Santos was left bleeding from the mouth in the ring.

Jordan Devlin won the Cruiserweight title at the worlds Collide event back in January of last year, due to travel restrictions caused by Covid 19 Devlin could not fly out to America to defend his title and with NXT UK not running shows, WWE held a tournament to crown an interim champion. Santos Escobar would go on to the win the tournament, becoming the interim champion however Devlin was then suspended by the WWE due to allegations made against him during the speaking out movement, so the WWE dropped the ‘interim’ from Santos Escobar’s Championship title. Now it looks like Devlin and Santos are set to face each other at Wrestlemainia to crown an undisputed Cruiserweight champion, if Devlin can get past Trent Seven that is.

You can Watch Devlin vs Seven on NXT UK tonight at 8pm GMT on the WWE Network.
