WWE finally gave Sheamus and Drew McIntyre a long awaited singles match as the opening match on Raw this past Monday, and they delivered in a long, hard hitting match that had fans praising the work of both former WWE Champions. While McIntyre has long had a history of putting on good matches, Sheamus has been a polarizing wrestler for internet fans, but was heavily praised for this match as well.
Now Fightful Select has reported WWE officials were high on the match as well, specifically the work of Sheamus. They’ve said his in-ring work has been on fire as of late and with how much of that match was called on the fly.
Higher ups in WWE that we spoke to said that they were pleased with the match, and noted specifically Sheamus’ in-ring hot streak of late. We’re told that a large portion of the match was called in the ring as well.
McIntyre and Sheamus have some amazing in-ring chemistry, and it showed not only at the Elimination Chamber, but this match on Raw. The duo went out of their way to put on a banger of a match and certainly delivered in what may be one of this year’s best televised matches.
