Melina seemed on track to a WWE return before it was revealed she had been suffering from an injury. It was then revealed she had a torn ACL and it might be enough that it could prevent her from continuing her wrestling career.
Melina spoke about it on Vickie Guererro’s Excuse Me podcast, revealing that she’s going to need surgery to fix the issue, but her ACL is “shot” which means there could be extensive rehab for the former WWE Women’s Champion.
“The sad part is I was told that I have — well basically, my ACL is hanging by a thread I think. I need to call the doctor and have them explain it to me, but that’s what was explained to them. They’re like, ‘No, her ACL is shot.’ I’m like, ‘Oh my goodness, I’ve been working on this knee and I didn’t even know this.” “So I need surgery and the thing is I don’t when I’m gonna get surgery, when I’m able to do that and by the time I do that and I heal, will I still be able to come back? Will my body still hold up?”
At the end of the day, the choice will be hers. Sometimes a surgery causes a lot of people to evaluate their career and where it stands. Hopefully the surgery will go well and Melina can address the possibility of a return when she’s further along in her recovery.
