Danhausen Credits Effy For Evolution Of His Gimmick

One of Ring of Honor’s most colorful personalities is the eccentric Danhausen. The very nice, very evil grappler finally won his way into Ring of Honor by defeating Brian Johnson at Final Battle back in December and he’s still waiting for Dave Honor to help him make lots and lots of money. Meanwhile, he’s become a viral hit for his outlandish personality and colorful behavior that’s managed to get him noticed by all kinds of pro wrestling fans.

Saying his character’s aura has elements of “Conan O’Brien, Elvira, and Beetlejuice,” Danhausen has been both entertaining, charming, and amusing to watch and speaking with Gamespot, he revealed how this current character he’s portraying hasn’t just helped him come out of his shell, but has allowed him to be more of his true self in the ring, all thanks to his Gaytanic Panic tag team partner on the independent scene, Effy.

“This is much more me. This is me incorporating every aspect of my personality into this character. Besides the fact, in real life, I’m really not that outgoing, so this character is a way for me to be more out there. Growing up, I was very shy, and talking in front of audiences makes me very nervous, but this whole character really helps with that. Anything I grew up with, or the things I took along the way of just living like late-night comedy, cartoons, horror, it’s all in this character.”

“I remember talking to [professional wrestler] Effy about it. He suggested [my last name]. It stands out but it’s just a German last name and goes with the weird aesthetic I have going on.”

While Danhausen admits this might not be the final version of his character, he has revealed he’s more comfortable than ever performing. It might just be another great chapter in the life of a very nice, very evil ROH star.
