Maria Kanellis Says She Doesn’t Think Vince McMahon Liked Her Angle With Mike Bennett On Raw In 2019

A lot of times, it’s been said Vince McMahon cuts things off at the knees because he doesn’t like it despite how much fans enjoy it. Whether it’s the push of a star like Keith Lee or how he didn’t understand how some gimmicks were so popular. Apparently, Mike Bennett and Maria Kanellis were victims of this Vince.

Maria was a guest on the DropKick Podcast, where she revealed that during the angle she and Bennett had in 2019 involving Maria’s pregnancy and Ricochet’s involvement in it. During that time, Kanellis was berating her husband and saying he wasn’t much of a man. She gave some insight to the podcast as to what the plans were and that apparently fans were very into it.

“So it was supposed to be this storyline where I was just berating him the whole time. I was still on the road while pregnant and then it was going to be Mike turning on me. It was supposed to be I’m sick of your Sh*t lady, I;m gonna do this on my own then I was gonna go on maternity leave and then he was gonna have this singles run and use all the things he had been though. You know, dating an evil woman and having this addiction and all this stuff. He was going to use it as a babyface and to really start getting some wins and get the ball rolling. Then of course that ended as well but you know some of our segments were like the highest rated during Raw and I don’t think Vince liked it which didn’t understand Breezango either. You hear all these stories of how he doesn’t get it and I’m sorry you didn’t get it but the fans enjoyed it.”

Kanellis and Bennett wound up falling off television again, only to resurface briefly before the pandemic back on 205 Live. While it’s unsure how much fans really enjoyed it or how much Vince didn’t get it, the duo are probably better off moving on from it. You can watch the interview below.
