The Late Butch Reed Had High Praise For AEW’s Powerhouse Hobbs

One of AEW’s fastest rising stars is Will “Powerhouse” Hobbs. A lot of people have taken notice of his strength and skill, and one of those was the late Butch Reed.

Reed, who passed away recently, turned out to be a big fan of Hobbs and wanted him to know it. Eventually, Reed’s family found a way to contact the AEW star and let him know just how highly the legend thought of Hobbs. Reed, who still loved using his old nickname “Hacksaw,” saw Hobbs on AEW television and referred to Hobbs as “the next Hacksaw!” when he saw him. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that this eventually got to Hobbs.

After Reed’s death, the Reed family contacted Hobbs, telling him how when he saw Hobbs wrestle he went nuts and would tell his family that Hobbs was the new Hacksaw. They told Hobbs how much Bruce admired him, and wanted to tell him personally, but he was at this point too sick to talk to him, which is why they did for him after his death.

Tony Khan, who was a huge fan of Reed, reportedly took time to tell Hobbs all about Reed in the days following his passing. Will Hobbs has long been touted at having a bright future, and one person who seems to see it was a legend himself.
