Backstage News On Steve Cutler’s Release

WWE surprisingly released Steve Cutler tonight from the company, ending a star crossed tenure with the company that had him benched for most of 2020 due to inflammatory tweets made by his Forgotten Sons faction mate Jaxson Ryker. Despite returning to television just a few weeks ago as part of King Corbin’s Knights of the Lone Wolf, complete with a new look, Cutler disappeared just as quickly and is now gone from the company.

Fightful Select has reported there may have been some problems in his final days with the company, as they have reported Cutler developed heat with Vince McMahon due to contracting COVID-19 in January. They had just put the duo back on television only for his creative plans to be disrupted due to testing positive for COVID-19. Several people backstage believe this release stems from that, which is rather unfortunate.

There was heat on Cutler specifically from Vince McMahon when Cutler was sidelined from WWE TV after contracting COVID-19 in early January.

This was a decision made by the company and not a request from Cutler. Cutler had actually been back at the Performance Center and offered to take part in the “big man class” that had been going on they put together involving Keith Lee, Otis, and others. The report from Fightful Select also stated Cutler was welcomed back to the PC, where he is well liked.

It was also said the door is open for him to return down the line. So while there is heat over the incident, it seems like it’s nothing the company doesn’t seem willing to let stand in the way later.
