New Never Open Weight Champion Crowned At New Beginning In Nagoya

In the Main Event of New Japan’s New Beginning in Nagoya, Shingo Tagaki would defend his Never Open Weight Championship against the Ace of New Japan, Hiroshi Tanahashi.

In a hard inhibiting match that went back and forth at points, Hiroshi Tanahashi took a nasty bump to the top of his head following a Made in Japan delivered by Tagaki.

In the end though it was New Japan’s Ace Hiroshi Tanahashi who was able to pick up the victory, following a high cross body, Dragon Suplex and a High Fly Flow splash to become the new never open weight champion.

Following the match as Tanahashi was celebrating with the crowd, United Empire’s Great O’Khan made his return to the ring following his victory over Hiroyoshi Tenzen earlier in the night. Great O’Khan would go on to attack the new champion laying Tanahashi out with the eliminator as he looks to be the first challenger for Tanahashi, whilst getting revenge for his loss at Wrestle Kingdom 15.

New Japan’s New Beginning in Nagoya is available to watch with English commentary on NJPW World. What do you make of the new champion? Will Great O’Khan be able to take the title from the new champion?
