Matt Cardona Reveals Vince McMahon Gets Final Say On Gear Wrestlers Wear At WrestleMania

One of the popular things to check out during WrestleMania is the new ring gear stars put together for the Show of Shows. It’s the one time of year wrestlers change up their look for the most special occasion and reveal a new look that either shifts the tone of their gear for the next year to come or for a special occasion. Whether it’s some of the iconic looks Rey Mysterio brings out for the event, or whether it’s a brand new entrance gear a star gets for the special night, the show features unique looks fans never forget. However, there is an approval process the talent goes through, and Matt Cardona had a story to tell.

Cardona was a guest on the Sitting Ringside podcast with David Penzer, and he revealed a story about a meeting with Vince McMahon over their gear. He revealed Vince McMahon has to approve all WrestleMania gear before they get to wear it on the show and one year Brian Myers had his rejected.

“Hawkins [Brian Myers] also had to politic — there’s this weird rule where you have to like present your gear that you’re gonna wear at WrestleMania and for some reason, Vince [McMahon] said he couldn’t wear it. So, Brian wanted to politic to get him to allow him to wear it which he did.”

Eventually Myers got the permission to wear the gear, but it took some backstage politics to make it happen. Cardona didn’t reveal who he had to talk to in order to make it happen, but it was enough to get Vince McMahon to change his mind. It’s just one more sign Vince McMahon gets final approval on everything.
