Drew McIntyre has tested positive for COVID-19, but did reveal he is asymptomatic. The WWE Champion has formally accepted Goldberg’s challenge for the Royal Rumble, but will he see him sooner than that?
On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer said McIntyre began a 14-day quarantine in time that if he remains symptom free, he can be back in time for the go-home episode of Raw the Monday before the Royal Rumble, but nothing is definite at this point.
McIntyre will now miss the next two weeks, which is a lost opportunity to help build the match, but WWE will try to find ways to build up to it without using McIntyre. It’s obviously a very fluid situation and hopefully McIntyre remains in a position where he can return, but nothing is known for now. Best of luck to McIntyre as he continues to recover from COVID-19.
