Adam Pearce became the #1 Contender for the WWE Universal Title by winning the gauntlet match on this week’s episode of Friday Night Smackdown.
On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer talked about this surprising turn of events. He noted that WWE is likely to replace Adam Pearce with Kevin Owens for the Royal Rumble title match.
“It’s possible that they’ll change it back to Kevin Owens because it seems like a strange match to make; because if they do that it pretty much tells you that they literally have no ideas at all. I’m not ruling out that they’ll go back to Kevin Owens.”
We will have to see what WWE has planned for the WWE Universal Title picture.
