AEW Has Signed Brodie Lee’s 8-Year Old Son To A Contract

The night Brodie Lee passed away, Brandi Rhodes promised on social media they would take care of his family. All Elite Wrestling has begun that process in a manner that was far more than token.

Though Brodie Lee passed away of a non-COVID related lung illness, he is survived by his two children Brodie and Nolan. Brodie is called in some circles Brodie Jr. or -1 thanks to his father being The Exalted One of the Dark Order. Many have seen Brodie Jr. thanks to pictures shared in recent days, in addition to his appearances on Xavier Woods’ UpUpDownDown channel alongside Lee.

On the most recent What Happened When podcast with Tony Schiavone, the AEW announcer revealed AEW is going out of their way to take care of Brodie’s family, including signing the 8-year old to an official AEW contract should he want to become a professional wrestler like his father.

“Knowing Brodie was very sick and it was the holidays and knowing it was going to be very difficult for him to ‘kick out,’ [AEW] brought little Brodie to TV and wrestling is his life. They made him a member of the Dark Order, they put a mask on him, he came out with a kendo stick and beat up a lot of people. They signed him to a contract, legitimately signed him to a contract. When he gets of age, he’ll be with AEW. They have taken care of him. He follows guys around in the back and becomes part of us. He gets involved with the guys, sits in Gorilla position, comes out with the mask and does some crazy things. The roster loved Brodie and we are family.”

Schiavone added that while AEW tapes Dark, it will sometimes go until 2am, and Amanda Huber will be there as long as the talent is because Brodie Jr. won’t want to leave.

Tonight’s Dynamite will be incredibly special, and it’s entirely possible we could see the on-air debut of -1. Tony Khan said he had selected Cody Rhodes, Orange Cassidy, and 10 of the Dark Order because they were Brodie Jr.’s favorite wrestlers, so it may be possible to see him there to cheer on his favorites.
