Kane Answers Why He Showed Up In Full Gear To Undertaker’s Final Farewell

During The Undertaker’s Final Farewell, many WWE Legends showed up to pay tribute to The Undertaker one last time. All of them arrived looking like they were there for a major event, and even Jeff Hardy dressed in regular attire for the affair.

And then there was Kane. The long time partner, rival, and storyline brother of The Undertaker arrived in full ring gear, a sharp contrast to everyone else. The move was joked about and teased on social media, but according to Glenn Jacobs, it was all by design.

Kane spoke to the Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling podcast about why he came out dressed in his gear, which was apparently by design because “Kane is Kane.”

“I was supposed to be (in gear). Kane is Kane. Kane and Undertaker pulled back the veil so much that sometimes we forget that, but that’s what separates them from a lot of the other performers is that they are true characters. I know people speculated with that, but it was the plan all along. It’s one of those things where people speculate and out-think themselves.”

“It was excellent, it really was. It was the way it should have been done. WWE always does stuff like that first-class. Just looking back on his entire career and the video and the Paul Bearer [hologram], it was well done. Even backstage with a bunch of tough wrestling guys, there weren’t many dry eyes.”

The Undertaker’s Last Ride documentary revealed that while this may be it, The Undertaker is always there if Vince McMahon needs him. So while he may be at least as close to retired as we may ever see him, we know Kane still hasn’t officially retired. His work as the mayor of Knox County, TN may be keeping him busy, but his gear is ready whenever the WWE needs him as well.

Who knows? We may still get one last match for the Brothers of Destruction.
