RVD Talks About AEW And How Much Money It Would Take For Him To Work There

Tony Khan has teased he’s spoken to names we have no idea about yet in previous media calls. A tease like that starts getting fans wondering which names he’s spoken with as we wonder who might be the next big surprise for AEW.

It seems like one of them won’t be the Whole F’n Show.

Rob Van Dam spoke to French pro wrestling journalist Thibaud Choplin about the potential of coming to AEW and Van Dam was candid and honest about the potential showing up on AEW Dynamite and how he would be expecting the company to show him the money.

“I’m not in talk with Chris Jericho or anyone in AEW. I’m all about the money. You know, people don’t understand. Some fans are ignorant. They don’t understand it’s a business. Some people think that when I had the WWE belt and the ECW belt, I was in my prime, and they probably think that I wish I was still there. But now I make 20 to 30 times in one match what WWE was paying me at the lowest.”

Van Dam added that he’s currently making more money wrestling one match than working 20 matches, saying fans don’t understand that he’s more driven to take the big money and lighter schedule.

“I could make that much more money in 1 match than in 20 matches. Why would you want work 30 matches to make the same money that you can work one match and make money? That’s something fans can’t understand cause they think we just love to be in the ring 24/7.”

While some wrestlers do enjoy spending more time in the ring than others, Van Dam recognizes that it’s more worth it at this point in his career to focus on the bigger paycheck and lighter schedule than the same money doing more work. You can watch the interview with Choplin and RVD below.
