Cody Rhodes Talks About His Brief Stint With IMPACT Wrestling

Cody Rhodes’ post-WWE world involved stops in many major independent promotions and a cup of coffee in IMPACT Wrestling. His brief stop gave him a chance to work with Mike Bennett and Maria Kanellis.

Apparently, it also gave him enough frustration and pettiness to plant the seeds for All Elite Wrestling.

A user posted a photo on Twitter that reminded people Aron Stevens and Cody Rhodes were working for Impact back in 2016, and Rhodes responded with a message that revealed the part Impact played in creating his desire to found All Elite Wrestling.

I was genuinely only there 2 days as a favor to Josh M and to help my Wife get started. Nice lil’ experience.

The team Canada guy gave away my parking spot to ADR. I then committed to ROH, Bucks and I did All In…and the rest is history.

My pettiness has led to greatness ha.

The names involved are almost too easy to figure out. Josh M is Josh Mathews, one of Impact’s commentators at the time. ADR is Alberto Del Rio, who was with the company at the time. “The Team Canada Guy” however could be an allusion to Scott D’Amore. D’Amore was an executive for Global Force Wrestling at the time who was in a partnership with IMPACT at the time.

While Don Callis is taking credit for one of AEW’s greatest moments in company history, it all wouldn’t have started without the pettiness of Cody Rhodes’ two days with IMPACT.
