Tessa Blanchard’s Future: WWE Looks Like The Only Option

Tessa Blanchard is quite possibly the best female professional wrestler in the game right now but that seemingly hasn’t encouraged any of the main wresting promotions to pursue her signature.

Tessa has been unsigned since leaving Impact back in June, leaving as the main world champion, which was her last high-profile achievement to date.

Speculation about why Tessa hasn’t signed anywhere is quite diverse. Fundamentally boiling down to companies potentially being cautious after other women in the sport called Blanchard out in January for being a backstage bully and highlighted a racist slur made by Blanchard a few years ago on a Japanese tour, that was directed towards fellow wrestler La Rosa Negra.

Again, it’s just speculation but it would be more than a valid reason if that’s the stance taken by companies. PR is everything these days.

Dave Meltzer spoke about Blanchard’s potential destinations recently on Wrestling Observer’s newsletter. He basically stated that no one from any company is denying her ability but AEW have opted “not to pursue” the daughter of one of their managers.

The truth is, from a talent perspective, Blanchard would send shockwaves throughout any company and their women’s division. She really is that good. She’s had matches with the likes of Brian Cage and Sami Callihan, won against them and they were good matches. That kind of talent doesn’t just pop up every week.

If the likes Impact don’t want to pay her, ROH seems just as unlikely a destination for her. If AEW have genuinely decided not to sign Tessa, it’s hard to believe WWE would pass up on the opportunity too.

Tessa has only wrestled once since her release, a match against the now-retired Kylie Rae at Warrior Wrestling.

Would you agree with saying that WWE are quickly becoming Tessa’s only option?
