The Young Bucks Say They Don’t Watch NXT

Cody Rhodes revealed last year that AEW doesn’t have a television watching NXT at their “go position” backstage at Dynamite. His explanation was that they didn’t want to be reactionary, which is understandable. He’s not the only AEW talent that doesn’t want to watch the show.

While speaking with Wrestling Inc. in promotion of their biography “Killing The Business”, Matt Jackson of the Young Bucks said he forgets that NXT is even on because of “tunnel vision” and concentrating strictly on NXT.

“I forget that they have shows. It’s tunnel vision to our own product. It’s like, ‘Oh yeah, that’s right. There’s another show tonight. That’s right.”

Nick Jackson added more to elaborate on that and Cody’s feelings, explaining that watching it might change things up on how they handle things.

“And that’s the mentality of Dynamite and AEW is we’d never wanted to know what that show is doing because we feel like if we do know, then it might screw up our brains and our minds on how we book things as well. So we never have wanted to get caught up in any of that.”

Everyone agrees that competition is healthy, and the two promotions are doing their best to put out the best product they can. And while things continue to be an interesting competition on Wednesday nights, you can be assured AEW won’t be doing things strictly as a reaction to whatever’s happening on NXT.
