Former WWE Champion Rey Mysterio is nearing an in ring return. According to Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the ‘Master of the 619’ is expected to return from injury very soon.
Rey said his partially torn triceps healed slower than he had expected, but that he was now about 99 percent injury free and is closing in on a big return.
Mysterio picked up the injury while competing in a tag team match at WWE Payback back in August. He teamed up with his son, Dominik, to defeat ‘The Messiah’ Seth Rollins and his now former disciple Murphy.
Rey was recently drafted to Smackdown in the WWE Draft and he has since stated, during an appearance on Talking Smack, that he feels like he has returned home. SmackDown was where he made his name in WWE and he is finally closing in on his in ring return to the ‘Blue brand’.
