WWE are said to be very high on NXT North American champion, Damian Priest. ‘The Archer Of Infamy’ kicked off NXT Takeover 31, successfully defending his title against Johnny Gargano.
Dave Meltzer noted during today’s Wrestling Observer Radio that the match was designed make Priest look good, and get him over.
WWE see Priest as someone “with a lot of potential” and Gargano was the “setup guy to get him there.” It was stated that Priest has “certain qualities” like his look, voice and athleticism. Thus, WWE wants to make him into a “big time star.”
If WWE were indeed trying to make Priest look good, they couldn’t of picked a better opponent for him, than ‘Johnny Wrestling’. Damien Priest seems to have a very bright future in WWE, if he keeps performing as he currently is, he may just end up achieving his goal, and ‘Live Forever’.
