Velveteen Dream Has Serious Backstage Heat After His NXT Return

Velveteen Dream’s return to NXT this week seems to have rubbed some people within the company up the wrong way. Dream made his return on Wednesday, facing Cameron Grimes and Damien Priest in aa qualifying match for the NXT North American Championship match at NXT Takeover XXX.

According to a report by Fightful Select, there was a substantial amount of heat on how Dream was brought back in to the fold. There had already been heat on Dream after a series of behavioral issues, and a perception that he has received preferential treatment has now added to that heat. Some within the company are angry that he is still employed despite situations that would have led to anyone else being fired.

WWE have not made any comment or official statement about Dream’s status within the company and seemingly no action has been taken toward him. In recent months Dream has been in hot water on multiple occasions – he received an arrest warrant for smashing a car window as well as multiple sexual misconduct allegations made against him.

Dream is scheduled to face Finn Balor next week in a second chance qualifying match to earn a spot in the NXT North American Championship Ladder Match.
