Details On The FTW Title

During Fyter Fest, Taz made a huge announcement. He revealed the FTW World Title and crowed Brian Cage as the champion. With the debut of the title, fans have been wondering how AEW could legally use it and what their plans might be in the future for the belt.

At Fyter Fest, Taz revealed that the title was never recognized by any pro-wrestling promotion. It was never owned by ECW, so it was not owned by WWE as well. According to a report by PW Insider, Taz owned the belt after he debuted it back in 1998. It was used for an ECW storyline and Taz can do whatever he wants with it.

Taz actually holds the copyright on the actual design of the belt, which allows him to do whatever he wishes with the design and the FTW intellectual property within professional wrestling.  If he ever wanted to merchandise the belt, such a replicas, t-shirts, etc. Taz would be well within his rights to do so.

With Brian Cage being the FTW Champion now, it certainly opens up a lot of possibilities for him. Perhaps AEW can have a future storyline where the title is defended.
