Bad Sign For Fans Being Able To Attend Live Events Any Time Soon

The coronavirus has changed the world. We are in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has seen the stoppage of sporting events and live concerts all across the world as stay at home orders, and limitations on number of people allowed in one location at a time have been made.

This however hasn’t stopped WWE, AEW, and IMPACT from carrying on with their weekly television programs. They have been recording footage in empty arenas without a live audience, and now WWE has made the decision to return to running their TV programs live instead of taped.

Everyone has been remaining optimist that things will eventually go back to normal and that we will once again be able to attending live pro wrestling, however it doesn’t look that could be happening any time soon.

Sports Illustrated recently ran an article looking at pro sports and the impact that the pandemic has had on them, and what the future holds. They spoke to Zach Binney, who has a PhD in epidemiology, and he stated that live sporting events will not be back until there is a COVID-19 vaccine. Unfortunately, we have yet to find a cure for the coronavirus, and it is believed that it could be 12-18 months before a COVID-19 vaccine is developed and distributed.

“We will not have sporting events with fans until we have a vaccine.”

Binney was also not very optimistic about sports leagues running events in closed arenas. It was said that in order to safely pull off a sporting event, each competitor would need to be isolated for two weeks prior to ensure that no symptoms are being shown, and then for another two weeks after. Event staff would also need to be tested for COVID-19 daily.

In addition, if an athlete was to leave the secure location (for any reason), that they would then need to be isolated for another two weeks.
