It was reported yesterday that despite all the issues that have come to light involving Lio Rush, that he was offered a new 5 year deal worth $300k per year – which he rejected and countered with $600k per year instead. It was also stated that Rush told WWE to release him so that he could show them what he is capable of outside of the company.
WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry recently discussed Lio Rush on an episode of Busted Open Radio on Sirius XM, and revealed that he had previously pulled Rush aside backstage and directly asked him about all of the rumors and reports he had been hearing regarding heat backstage on him. Apparently, instead of taking advantage of the advice and wisdom of the WWE Hall of Famer, Rush lied to his face, and told Henry that there was nothing wrong.
“I pulled him aside the last time I saw him and told him ‘I’m hearing stuff in the locker room. What’s wrong?’ He said nothing’s wrong.”
“It was a blatant lie to my face. I let him know that if he has a question, right now is the time to do that. You’re likely not going to run into someone who knows the system like I know the system. He didn’t do that. He lied to my face. Sometimes you have to talk to people that know more than you do.”
Henry went on to talk about the problems that Lio Rush is having backstage within WWE, and said that it has nothing to do with race and that it is really all about his ego.
“It’s not a race issue. It’s an ego issue. Who are you? Nobody is exempt from being respectful to the business and paying homage to the guys drawing money. We all have done it. Steve Austin did it. The Rock did it. You better than The Rock? Get the hell outta here!”
We will have to wait and see what happens next with this ongoing and constantly developing situation with Lio Rush. We will keep you updated as more info becomes available.
