Jack Swagger Talks Transition from WWE to MMA; Rough Times Following Him After Leaving WWE

Recently on the E & C Pod of Awesomeness, Former WWE Superstar Jack Swagger was a recent guest of their show. On that episode of the podcast, one of the things discussed was Swagger training for MMA after asking for his release from WWE.

I pretty much took Dave Batista’s guide, because they were my friends too. Rob Radford, Josh Rafferty were the main coaches and Josh will tell you I was in no shape. I was drinking heavily and smoking half a pack of Newport’s a day. I was still angry over leaving the company.

Swagger continued on to prove that he was serious by jumping on the swind machine to prove himself.

It was so much fun, it was such a journey, with ups and down, still doing the pro wrestling in between and then going home. I went out on a limb and said I believe I can do this and I believe I can compete. I am willing to walk away from a lot of money to advance my brand and grab that brass ring.

Safe to say that he made the right choice, Swagger made his debut in MMA and came out victorious in his first fight.
