Matt Sydal Reportedly Offered Deals From Both AEW & WWE

Matt Sydal was scheduled to undergo surgery to repair damage to his knee, however he posted an update earlier this week saying that his surgery was postponed due to insurance reasons.

Sydal was known as Evan Bourne during his time with WWE, and it appears as though the company might be interested in bringing him back in. However, WWE is apparently not the only one interested in the former IMPACT Wrestling X-Division Champion.

On the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer commented on Matt Sydal. He noted that Sydal’s contract with IMPACT expired on January 1st, 2019 and that he is once again a free agent. Meltzer also pointed out that there is a lot of interest in Sydal right now.

Regarding Matt Sydal, Meltzer said:

“Matt Sydal’s contract with Impact Wrestling ended on January 1st, he should be ready in a couple of months. He had knee surgery last week, minor knee surgery [he didn’t have it as stated above].”

“We’ll see what happens with him. I know he’s had offers from AEW. I know he’s had offers from WWE. I haven’t been told specifically that Impact wants him back, but I would think Impact would want him back because he’s good.”

“That’s his situation, he’s a free agent, yeah.”

With the wrestling industry currently in the middle of a boom of sorts, as promotions have been scrambling to lock up free agent talent to exclusive contracts, it will be interesting to see where Matt Sydal decides to go once he has healed from knee surgery.

We will keep you updated if we hear more news involving Matt Sydal, or free agent signings by WWE or AEW.
