Elias is currently over with the fans as a babyface. He would turn face on the same episode as when Roman Reigns made his leukemia announcement. Elias would make up the lack of a babyface hence.
WrestleVotes reported that the initial plan WWE had in mind for Elias was far different from what actually happened. It also included Ambrose turning heel.
It is reported that Ambrose’s heel turn would see him costing Seth Rollins his Intercontinental Title. Elias would be Seth’s opponent. So due to Roman’s exit, we never got to see an IC Title run by Elias.
It would’ve been interesting to see him as IC champion. But in the world of professional wrestling, plans can change at any moment.
Interesting tidbit for those who like this type of thing: prior to all of RAWs creative plans going up in flames last month, the original Ambrose heel turn angle was to see him cost Rollins the IC title. Who was scheduled to win the strap you ask? Elias.
