WWE Making Plans For Future Asuka vs. Ronda Rousey Match?

In the latest issue of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reports that there may be plans in place for a possible match between Asuka and Ronda Rousey.

It was reported yesterday that Rousey is finalizing a deal that will bring her to the WWE. Although it is said that when Rousey makes her main roster debut, that she will be working a program with either Charlotte or Stephanie McMahon. There has also been talk about a potential 4 Horsewomen vs. 4 Horsewomen angle, so it should be interesting to see which direction WWE decides to go once Rousey’s deal is made official.

Meltzer pointed out that it may be worth noting that Asuka has recently changed her finishing move from her chickenwing Asuka Lock, and has now began using an armbar for her finisher. With Ronda Rousey being known as the “master” of the armbar, Asuka’s usage of the move could play into something more down the road.

Meltzer said, “Given Asuka switching from the chickenwing Asuka Lock to the armbar, and Rousey as the legit armbar master, and then giving Asuka the shooter push and protecting her so much, that would seem to be a natural matchup down the line.”
