The Rock to Star as a Motorcycle Stuntman

While its been a long time since The Rock stepped foot in a WWE ring, his Hollywood career continues to flourish as it was announced today he will be starring as a motorcycle stuntman who has dementia in the movie Free Byrd.

Variety broke the story and they included that the film follows The Rock’s character as he conceals his dementia diagnosis from everyone in order to do one last jump.

“Free Byrd’ is a gift in many ways,” said Johnson. “Emblematic of life’s sacred beauty, as well as life’s harsh and callous reality. The subject matter of ‘Free Byrd’ has become deeply personal to Greg Kwedar and myself as we’ve started to unpack this fateful journey together. Artists Equity have been incredible filmmaking and artistic partners, who not only share Greg’s vision for the film, but who are all connected to our story in their own unique and personal ways. When the mind of a loved one begins to slip away, life sure takes on a whole new meaning.”

The Rock is still going to be starring in two of the biggest films of 2026. He stars once again as Maui in Moana which hits theaters on July 10th. This is the live action remake of the animated film that came out in 2016 in which The Rock voiced Maui. The Rock is also starring in the fourth and final Jumanji film. That movie opens in theaters on Christmas Day.

The Rock was a major fixture in WWE in 2024 and 2025 but after the whole debacle surrounding himself, Travis Scott and John Cena, we have not seen him back on WWE TV since that point. Who knows if we ever see The Rock back in a WWE ring anytime soon.
